Sometimes I wonder what creation looked like in Genesis, when God had the first touch on everything, as He painted the sky, cloud by cloud, and the grass, blade by blade. Every mountain, every wildflower, every sunset wasn't rushed or accidental, it was put there with purpose in mind. It was intentional.
When I sit down to paint, I'm reminded that creativity didn't begin with us, it began with God. We create because it is innate. There is something sacred about making something with our hands, from nothing, for His glory.
The more I paint, the more I notice Him. In the way light spills across a field. In the shape of the clouds over an illuminating sunset. In the way color is made with depth and vibrancy.
Creating has a way of slowing us down enough to see the Creator.
Sometimes we believe creativity is reserved for artists, musicians, or writers. But creativity is woven into every one of us because it comes from God Himself. Whether you're raising children, building a business, cooking a meal, solving problems at work, tending a garden, or creating art, every opportunity to make something with love can become an act of worship.
If the God who painted galaxies into existence also painted every sunset you've ever admired, then He certainly didn't overlook you. You weren't an afterthought. You are a masterpiece God carefully put together with purpose. Before you took your first breath, He already knew the gifts He would place inside you, the people you would love, and the good works He would call you to.
"For we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago."
Ephesians 2:10
The same hands that painted the heavens formed you.The same Creator who fills the sky with color has filled your life with purpose.So whatever He's placed in front of you today, create with open hands.
