There is something so beautiful about an olive branch.
It isn't loud or showy. It doesn't demand attention. Yet throughout Scripture, it quietly carries a message that changes everything: peace has come.
I think forgiveness often looks a lot like that olive branch.
When we've been hurt, we tend to want certainty before extending grace. We want apologies, changed behavior, and proof that our vulnerability is safe. Jesus modeled this a different way. He extended forgiveness while nails pinned Him to a cross and He offered mercy before it was deserved.
Forgiveness doesn't always mean trust is instantly restored. It doesn't mean pretending wounds don't exist. But it does mean releasing our right to carry bitterness and placing justice back into God's hands.
Maybe today there is someone you need to forgive.
Maybe that person is yourself.
Whatever burden you've been carrying, imagine laying it at the feet of Jesus. Let His mercy toward you become the mercy you extend to others.
Because every olive branch points us back to the greatest act of forgiveness the world has ever known—the cross.
And because we have been forgiven much, we can forgive too.
